What is Music Therapy?

Music therapy is an evidence-based therapy delivered by university-qualified allied health professionals, known as Registered Music Therapists.

It involves the use of musical activities to support non-musical objectives, such as enhancing physical, psychological, social, and emotional well-being. Each session is tailored to individual needs, with therapists selecting appropriate musical techniques to help achieve specific goals.

Music therapy is governed by the Australian Music Therapy Association and is acknowledged by the NDIS.

How Does Music Therapy Help?

Music therapy engages both the brain and body, using evidence from neuroscience and psychosocial research to enhance mood, energy, speech, memory, movement, and pain management.

Extensive research highlights its effectiveness in addressing various needs, including dementia, mental health conditions, chronic pain, autism, and more.
